AISD Holds Town Hall On Back To School
Superintendent Stephanie Elizalde used two virtual town halls Wednesday and Thursday to encourage families to “do what science says we need to do” and wear a mask in the classroom.
Masks Mandated at Austin ISD (En español)
Starting Wednesday, August 11, students, staff and visitors will need to wear face masks when on school properties, Superintendent Stephanie S. Elizalde announced late Monday at a school board meeting.

"I am responsible for the safety, health and welfare of each and every one of our students and our staff. If I err, I must err on the side of ensuring that we’ve been overly cautious, not that we have fallen short," Elizalde said.
COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic - LBJ Early College High School
We have a free COVID-19 (Pfizer) vaccine opportunity available for our AISD Community, all family members included, 12 years of age and older. This opportunity is being hosted by Austin Public Health. Pre-registration available, walk-ins welcome.

Survey: 80% of Families Intend to Mask in Schools
In our survey, 80% of families who responded said they plan to send their child to school wearing a mask.
Why it matters: The survey results show that the vast majority of Austin ISD families plan to have their child wear a mask at school.
Dive Deeper: Generally, parents of elementary school students were more likely to send their child to school in a mask than parents of middle or high school students.
Austin ISD extends pre-K schedule, adds teacher assistants
Families can expect more out of Austin ISD’s prekindergarten program for four year olds this school year with 45 minutes of additional instruction.
“The extra 45 minutes means additional time for high-quality programming; hands-on learning experiences, exposure to literacy and learning through play,” said Nikki Demby, director of early learning.
