All Austin ISD students are able to obtain a district-supported device to use for school. PreK-2nd grade students have access to classroom sets of Chromebooks and 3rd-12th grade students are assigned a Chromebook (with charger and optional carrying case).

On the first day of school, Superintendent Stephanie S. Elizalde surprised Sanford Jeames, health sciences teacher at Eastside Early College High School in his classroom with a gift bag, colorful orchids and an excited “congratulations!”
Jeames was named the Region 13 2022 Texas Secondary Teacher of the Year and finalist for Texas Teacher of the Year.
Austin ISD Superintendent Stephanie Elizalde will welcome back students, families and staff during campus visits on the first day of school.
What: Media will have the opportunity to follow Elizalde as she begins the year visiting campuses. Elizalde will be available at Sanchez Elementary School for interviews.

Masks will still be required in all Austin ISD schools and facilities regardless of the latest Texas Supreme Court ruling, which blocked temporary restraining orders that had allowed Dallas County and San Antonio to impose mask mandates.
