AISD, ACC Offer Free Paraeducator Certification Program

Bring your passion into the classroom as a teacher assistant! Join Austin ISD and Austin Community College for the Pathway to Paraeducator Certification Program.

This free certification program is a pathway to a career supporting AISD students as a teacher assistant. This is an exclusive opportunity for families with children enrolled in AISD where participants may earn 21 to 28 hours of learning, tuition-free, through support from the district’s talent acquisition team. The program is completely free for participants.

Board Resolution Asks TEA to Release Funds Meant For Districts

The Austin ISD Board of Trustees passed a resolution tonight requesting that state officials release federal funds designed to support students and districts during the pandemic.

At stake for the district is an estimated $241 million in one-time funding, meant to help make districts whole as they’ve navigated the demands and changing needs of students and staff during COVID-19.

Board Approves Renaming of Eastside Memorial ECHS to Eastside ECHS

The Austin ISD Board of Trustees at its April 22 Regular Voting Meeting approved the renaming of Eastside Memorial Early College High School to Eastside Early College High School.  

As part of the district’s 2017 Bond Program, Eastside Early College High School and International High School—both currently located at the Johnston Campus—will open at a new permanent site this summer, at the Original L.C. Anderson High School.

Un reciente esfuerzo de traer a los estudiantes de vuelta a los salones de clases durante las últimas seis semanas de clases ha resultado en una confusión generalizada sobre las cambiantes reglas en torno a un tipo de financiamiento estatal llamado "exención de responsabilidad".

Los informes han señalado que la cantidad de financiamiento en riesgo es de hasta $30 millones, cuando la cantidad que el Austin ISD podría perder, si no alcanza los objetivos de asistencia, se acerca a los $4 a $5 millones.

Como parte del programa del bono de 2017 del distrito, la Escuela Preparatoria de Universidad Temprana Eastside Memorial y la Escuela Preparatoria International, ambas ubicadas en la actualidad en el plantel de Johnston, pronto estarán en una nueva ubicación permanente.

El jueves, los miembros de la mesa directiva considerarán si aprueban oficialmente el nuevo nombre propuesto por el Consejo Consultivo Escolar: Escuela Preparatoria de Universidad Temprana Eastside.

Two Austin ISD Students Receive National Scholarship Out of 5,800 Applicants

Two Austin ISD seniors are shining bright on the national stage after being selected as just two of 61 recipients of the Cooke College Scholarship. They were selected for the scholarship out of a pool of more than 5,800 applicants nationwide.

Anderson High School student Ha “Ketty” Nguyen and Liberal Arts and Science Academy student Ian Poe will each receive up to $40,000 annually to cover costs associated with their undergraduate education.

AISD to Provide Free Meals for All Students for 2021-22 School Year (En español)

When students step onto an Austin ISD campus in the 2021-22 school year, they can rest assured they will be able to get a healthy lunch at no cost.

The United States Department of Agriculture announced on April 20 they are extending free meal benefits through June 2022, allowing Austin ISD to keep serving its free lunches.
