The Akins Early College High School community, staff, families and friends joined together June 15 to celebrate the 2020 graduating class through a virtual ceremony.
Superintendent Paul Cruz congratulated the graduates of this year's class via a video statement. His remarks were followed by a speech from Principal Tina Salazar.
For the sixth time in its history, and third consecutive year, AISD.TV is once again the winner in the Hometown Media Awards for Overall Excellence in Educational Access.
AISD.TV, the official streaming channel of Austin ISD, received a 2020 Hometown Media Award from the Alliance for Community Media Foundation. The awards program was established to honor and promote community media and local cable programs that are distributed on Public, Educational and Governmental access cable television channels.

Numerous models and potential approaches for fall 2020 are being studied by the Austin ISD task force charged with examining options for reopening. After extensive review, the task force is now looking primarily at models that use a blended learning approach. This means the school year, scheduled to begin Aug. 18, will likely begin with both on-campus and at-home learning. No decisions have been finalized.
The district is closed from July 7-10.
