Regularly enrolled students will receive a class schedule and report for a full day of classes.
On May 8 twenty-six Austinites graduated from Austin ISD’s UpClose program. A program which offers families and community members a unique opportunity to learn about the district’s infrastructure, programs and services, as well as the challenges and opportunities for improvements.
In eight monthly meetings the participants meet at district sites to get an inside look at key programs. In addition to monthly meetings, participants create a school-based final project.
On Saturday, May 11 at 10:30 a.m. at the Austin Independent School District's Performing Arts Center, 1500 Barbara Jordan Blvd, AISD will recognize 219 Latino students, representing every middle and high school, for academic achievement and for excelling in Fine Arts, Athletics, ESL and Dual Language programs.
The district will also recognize community leaders for their contributions and support for the district's students and campuses.

Join Austin ISD for its Splash into summer reading with some of Austin’s favorite authors from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 18 at the AISD Performing Arts Center, 1500 Barbara Jordon Blvd.
The event is free and open to the public and is a celebration of books and reading for students and their families. Featuring exciting authors, interactive sessions, hands-on activities, book signings, and more, the Splash event is geared toward readers in grades 3 through 6, but all are welcome.
Please join us on Saturday, May 18 from 9 a.m.–noon at Martin Middle School for the annual AISD After-school Showcase!
This event is free to families and will feature interactive exhibits, student performances, snacks and refreshments, and family-friendly activities.

When it comes to being a winner, Austin High senior Danielle “Nelly” Serna personifies the qualities it takes to be one.
Head softball coach Kristen Lozano said the team's pitcher embodies a relentless work ethic, mental toughness, physical power and, most importantly, leadership.
“Her 5-feet,10-inch presence is intimidating but it is her ability to command the field in every situation,” Lozano said. “She brings out the best in every player.”
