Mentoring Program

Novice Teacher Mentor Program

The AISD Mentoring Program supports Austin ISD teachers in their first and second year in the teaching profession. The program is designed to positively impact beginning teacher effectiveness through ongoing training and support. AISD mentors serve as emotional support and orient new teachers to their campus and district. By conducting meetings, observing, and providing timely feedback, mentors assist beginning teachers in improving their practice through planning, instruction, content knowledge, and reflection.

Teacher Induction Program

Welcome Week | August 4 - Aug 7, 2025

During this week new-to-AISD teachers, librarians, and elementary counselors come together for professional learning, to network, and to participate in whole group and cohort settings. This week, which is required, focuses on supporting attendees in getting acquainted with curricula, district practices, and district systems. It also serves as a district welcome celebration and year kick off for attendees.

Celebrating National School Breakfast Week and Encouraging More Students to Begin their Day with a Healthy Breakfast

According to the latest data from the Food Research & Action Center (FRAC), moving school breakfast to after the bell is one of the most effective strategies to ensure children have access to a nutritious breakfast.

Research shows that eating breakfast at school improves academic performance, health, and behavior. That’s why Austin ISD is offering breakfast, at no charge, to over 25,000 students daily, served in the classroom rather than in the cafeteria.
