Kindergarten Orientation Day 2019

All Austin ISD elementary schools welcome families to their campuses for Kindergarten Orientation Day!

All children who will be 5 years old or older on or before Sept. 1 are eligible to enroll in kindergarten.

At each school's orientation, families will receive information about the district's full-day kindergarten program, including:

We thank Governor Abbott, Speaker Bonnen and the legislature for building on the work of the school finance commission to address one of the most important and formidable issues facing Texas: how the state funds education. Texans consistently identify education and school finance as top priorities for communities and industries, as well as the future of our state.

Trustees Approve 2019–20 School Calendar

At their regular board meeting Monday night, Austin ISD trustees approved the calendar for the 2019–20 school year. 

Three options had been presented to students, staff and families for voting Nov. 12–Dec. 20. Calendar B received the majority of the votes, with 6,339 out of 10,286 total votes. 

The first day of class for students will be Aug. 20, with Aug. 13 as the first day for teachers. The last day of class for students will be May 28, 2020; teachers will end their year May 29, 2020.
