In response to the district’s growing budget deficit, Austin ISD is forming a Budget Stabilization Task Force.
The ad hoc advisory body will meet on Wednesdays this summer to explore a broad range of actions the district could take to balance the budget in the next two to three years.
While the work of the task force will inform potential topics of discussion, the preliminary scope of work will include:

The NAMM Foundation has designated Austin ISD as one of the Best Communities for Music Education for its outstanding commitment to music education.
The National Association for Music Merchants Foundation awards the designation to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in providing music access and education to all students.
More than 200 Austin ISD Latino students, three community leaders and a former AISD interim superintendent Gonzalo Garza will be honored at the 2018 AISD Latino Academic Achievement Awards.

What: The event will feature performances by AISD students. Admission to the 2018 AISD Latino Academic Achievement Awards is free and open to the public.
What: Late starts provide the necessary time for on-going support for teachers, sharing of best practices, and built-in time for assessing the effectiveness of program implementation.
