Williams Elementary School Wildcat Literacy Week

Feb. 26–March 2 is Wildcat Literacy Week at Williams Elementary School.

This event includes a weeklong Scholastic Book Fair, buddy reading between grade levels, and book donation drop with guest readers. 

The week culminates with Literacy Night beginning at 6 p.m. March 1. Kindergarten and first-grade students perform a Dr. Seuss concert, and stations are set up for families to receive free books and make items to take home that will help encourage building literacy skills within the family.

This is a free family event for all age levels.

Join Austin ISD to learn about the historical context of some of the district's school names, and take part in a facilitated discussion about school names and how they relate to AISD's core values. Dinner will be served, and child care and interpretation into Spanish will be provided.

Our thoughts are with those affected by yesterday’s incident in Florida, and our hearts go out to the Broward County community. Tragedies such as these affect us all, and we want you to know that the safety and security of our students and staff remains our highest priority. 

The lives of our AISD students and staff are precious, and we are committed to sustaining a safe and secure learning environment at our 130 campuses and all district facilities. Our staff and police department have plans in place to address emergency situations.

AISD Historically Underutilized Business Program Outreach Event

Please join us from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday Feb. 21, 2018 for information and updates on the 2017 Bond Program subcontracting opportunities.

The awarded design build firms will be present along with AISD staff.

State of Texas and City of Austin certifying agencies will be present.

When Students Become Teachers: Austin ISD Future Educators to Compete at State

Future educators from three Austin ISD high schools are headed to state competition.

Students from Akins High School and from Lanier and Travis early college high schools will compete in the 34th Annual Teach Tomorrow Summit and State Competition.

The competition is Feb. 15–17 at the La Torretta Resort and Conference Center and Sam Houston State University in Huntsville.

Online Student Registration Extravaganza

Families will be able to receive assistance with registering their students online for the 2018–19 school year as well as help with creating or accessing their Parent Cloud accounts.

The extravaganza will be held at two locations: Lanier High School, 1201 Peyton Gin Rd. and Akins High School, 10701 S. 1st St. from 9 a.m. –3 p.m. March 30.

Register at either location regardless of the AISD campus the student will be attending.
