MEDIA ADVISORY All Aboard: ABoR Realtors Tour AISD Schools

A tour by Austin ISD will give Realtors a chance to become expert resources for clients looking for homes in the Central Austin area.

As part of its marketing efforts, Austin ISD has invited Realtors on a special tour of three Austin ISD schools to learn more about the schools’ offerings and points of pride.

What: The bus tour will visit Pease Elementary School and Small Middle School and conclude at Austin High School.

When: 8 a.m.–1:40 p.m. Thursday, March 9

Happy Birthday: Mendez Middle School Celebrates 30 Years

Mendez Middle School is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a festival, including food, games and performances.

What: Mendez Middle School is celebrating its 30-year anniversary with the Consuelo Mendez Heritage Festival. The festival includes carnival games, booths, raffles and food. Carnival activities range from a dunking booth and giant Jenga to face-painting and a cupcake walk.

AISD Celebrates Youth Art Month with Student-Designed Billboard

"Imagine the Possibilities," the 2017 theme of Austin ISD's Youth Art Month, kicked off with the signing of a student-designed billboard.

Travis Early College High School art student David Thang signed his artwork on the billboard at 1614 Montopolis Road.

The Austin Fire Department lifted Thang; his art teacher, Rachael Wellborn; and Superintendent Paul Cruz up in a fire truck bucket to sign the billboard.

Beyond the Canvas: AISD Art Show Open to Public in March

To celebrate Youth Art Month, more than 1,700 works of art representing 113 elementary, middle and high schools will be displayed for the public.

When: A reception will be held 1–6 p.m. Sunday, March 5. The exhibit is also open to the public 8 a.m.–8 p.m. Mon.–Fri.; 10 a.m.– 3 p.m. Saturdays March 11, 26; and noon–4 p.m. Sunday, March 26. It will be closed for Spring Break March 12–19.
