Covington Middle School Open House 2016

Covington Middle School and Fine Arts Academy invites everyone to the 2016 Open House!

Students and their families will enjoy fine arts performances and take tours of the school while learning about the amazing programs available to our middle schoolers. 

Programs include dual language, robotics, Minecraft.edu, entrepreneurship and more. 

Join us 6–7:45 p.m. Dec. 6 at Covington, 3700 Convict Hill Road.

David Edgar Joins AISD as New Executive Director of Finance

Austin ISD's Board of Trustees approved the appointment of David Edgar as the new executive director of finance Sept. 26. 

As the executive director of finance for AISD, Edgar directs the district’s operations for areas that include budget services, treasury, accounting and payroll, risk management, state and federal grants, and Medicaid and student billing. 

He also oversees systems and procedures to ensure practical management and internal control systems.

District Hosts 2016 Middle School Fair

Families of current and future middle school students are invited to join Austin ISD for the 2016 Middle School Fair!

Students and their families can learn about the diverse and innovative programming offered in Austin ISD, enjoy student performances and hear from our 19 middle school campus leaders about the many amazing programs and classes open to our middle school students. 

This year's fair is 9 a.m.–noon Dec. 3 at Kealing Middle School, 1607 Pennsylvania Ave.

Board Welcomes New, Returning Members During Swearing-in Ceremony

The Austin ISD Board of Trustees swearing-in ceremony last night welcomed returning trustees Amber Elenz (District 5), Jayme Mathias (District 2), Ann Teich (District 3) and Yasmin Wagner (District 7).

Wagner was elected to fill the remainder of an unexpired term as the District 7 trustee after she filled the seat following the death of former trustee Robert Schneider. 

The board also welcomed new trustee Cindy Anderson to the at-large seat in District 8.

Planning to Donate on #GivingTuesday? Help Austin Ed Fund Reach $20,000 to Support AISD Students

In celebration of #GivingTuesday on Nov. 29, Austin Ed Fund—a nonprofit supporting AISD schools—is launching its first giving campaign, aiming to raise $20,000. 

#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving, celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving to promote giving back, along with the shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday. It kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.
