Austin ISD and the city of Austin welcome students, their families and members of the community for the 11th annual Back to School Bash!
This event brings together more than 100 community organizations and nonprofits focused on providing services and educational opportunities to Austin ISD students and their families.
There will be a meeting of Austin ISD's Facilities and Bond Planning Advisory Committee (FABPAC) from 6:15–8:45 p.m. August 11 in the multipurpose room of the district's Performing Art Center, 1500 Barbara Jordan Blvd.
The Austin ISD Board of Trustees appoints citizens to the FABPAC to evaluate capital improvement needs of the district and to provide recommendations to the board on long-range facilities planning, on amendments to the Facility Master Plan and on the scope of work and timing of future bond programs.
All regular meetings of AISD advisory bodies are open to the public. To speak before a district advisory body during a regular meeting, please consult the Citizens Communications and Visitor Guidelines, which can be found on the AISD website under Advisory Bodies:(http://www.austinisd.org/advisory-bodies.) Citizens Communication is limited to 10 minutes.

For the fifth year in a row, Lanier High School welcomes the community to a parade and fall festival.
The parade is 10–11 a.m. and features Lanier clubs and student organizations. The Lanier Marching Band and Vikettes will lead the marchers from the front of the school along a route through the community.
After the parade, families and community members are invited to stay for the Fall Festival, beginning at 11 a.m. Attendees may purchase tickets during the festival to participate in games and purchase crafts and refreshments.
We're expanding the festival this year to provide information and free services from community partners and organizations.

Students from throughout AISD perform the hit Disney musical at 3 p.m. Aug. 14.
Tickets are $10 for students and $15 for adults, and are available online or at the PAC Box Office on the day of the performance.
The musical is directed by Christina Burbank Shelton and Joshua Denning, with musical direction by Randy Cantu and technical direction by Michelle Ferrier.
