McCallum Among 74 U.S. High Schools Recognized for Their Commitment to Global Learning

McCallum High School has been named a 2016 Top Global Learning School by AFS-USA and the National Society of High School Scholars.

Seventy-four schools from across the country were honored with this award, which recognizes exceptional dedication to fostering global citizenship through intercultural learning inside and outside the classroom.

Help AISD Envision a Magnet School Program for South Austin

Austin ISD wants community feedback on proposals for a potential new south magnet program to provide students greater access to magnet programming.
 
Currently, no magnet programs exist in South Austin high schools, which include Akins, Austin, Bowie, Crockett and Travis.

Lanier High School Opens Family Resource Center

With an eye toward supporting at-risk students and families, Lanier High School officially opened its state-of-the-art Family Resource Center on Tuesday.

AISD Superintendent Paul Cruz, Trustee Ann Teich and other community leaders were on hand for the ribbon-cutting ceremony. The Family Resource Center is located on the rear side of Lanier, and is the result of a partnership between AISD and Austin Voices for Education and Youth. 

Take the Survey: New Bell Schedule for 2016–17 School Year

The bell schedule for all Austin ISD students will change this fall because of a new state law measuring the school day in minutes instead of days.

To comply with this new law, AISD must extend the elementary school day.

Because of the size of our district and our transportation system, this change may affect schedules for our middle school and high school students. This may also affect how we make up bad weather days.

HUB Community Meeting

Please join the Austin Independent School District as we present the findings of the "AISD Disparity Study: Methods, Findings & Conclusions" prepared by National Economic Research Associates. We will also discuss the current informal HUB Program and expected changes as the district adopts a formal HUB Program. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide comments.
