Akins High School Academy Fair
Come see what the academies at Akins High School have to offer!
Students who are new to Akins or who will be freshmen in the fall are invited to join current Akins students to learn more about our programs.
Academies offer students the chance to learn about subjects including criminal justice, video game design, debate, film studies, dance, environmental science, engineering, accounting and more.

Austin ISD Board Elects New Officers
AISD Board of Trustees elected new officers at its special meeting last night.
Kendall Pace was named board president. Pace has served on the board at large since January 2015.
Paul Saldaña was named vice president. Saldaña has served District 6 since January 2015.
Julie Cowan was named board secretary. Cowan has served District 4 since January 2015.

MEDIA ADVISORY Student Artist to Sign Giant Canvas
Join Austin ISD as it kicks off Youth Art Month with Travis High School student artist Juan Salcedo autographing a billboard featuring his artwork.
When: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27
Where: 1614 Montopolis Road
What: The Austin Fire Department will lift the student, his art teacher, Rachael Wellborn, and Superintendent Paul Cruz, up in a fire truck bucket to sign the billboard. The billboards are sponsored by A+ Federal Credit Union and Reagan National Advertising.
Ribbon-cutting: Applied Technology Center at Anderson High School
The community is invited to a ribbon-cutting event for the Applied Technology Center, a state-of-the-industry 14,500-square-foot facility located at Anderson High School.
The center is a joint project among Austin ISD, the Boys Scouts of America and a community donor and will benefit students throughout the district.
Please join us at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, for guided tours of the facility and food from Nacho Average Taco Truck, the district's first food truck.
2016 Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration of Life
Austin ISD celebrates the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a special program Jan. 19.
This year's theme for the annual event is "Man in the Mirror."
The event features student performers from Bertha Sadler Means Young Women’s Leadership Academy, Dobie Middle School, Webb Middle School and a special “I Have a Dream” recitation from Gus Garcia Young Men’s Leadership Academy.
All staff at Carruth Administration Center are invited to join our students 9:45–10:45 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, in the Board Auditorium.

Incoming ninth-graders: sign up for classes at Reagan ECHS
Students will sign up for classes, learn about Early College High School and check out school organizations. To ensure that students are able to sign up for the desired classes, a parent or guardian should be present.
