Austin ISD Food Services and Anderson High School are proud to introduce the district's first food trailer in an effort to provide students with healthy and delicious meal options in a new and innovative way. 

The Nacho Average Food Truck menu will alternate daily and will first feature street tacos with locally sourced ingredients, including tortillas from Fiesta Tortillas and produce from Johnson's Backyard Garden.

For the normal lunch price, students will receive two tacos and up to three sides and a milk. 

Austin ISD welcomes dozens of Realtors Oct. 6 to a tour of three South Austin schools—Cunningham Elementary School, Covington Middle School and Crockett High School. 

The event will include highlights about each school and a tour from principals to showcase special programs and courses offered at each campus.

Austin ISD’s transportation department received an honorable mention for the 2015 Green Fleet Award from 100 Best Fleets of North America.  

This is the sixth consecutive year AISD’s fleet of 522 school buses has been recognized by 100 Best Fleets, a transportation industry awards program.

The author of the Green Fleet Awards contest, Tom Johnson said that increasing advances in technology are transforming energy use and efficiency, and adapting fleets to changing conditions is good for the environment and for society.

The National Wildlife Federation has named Small Green Tech Academy as one of the top 10 Eco-Schools in the nation.

NWF ranked schools based on their commitment to environmental education and the school community’s work to making the facility more sustainable and wildlife-friendly.
