Bowie High School Senior Wins Austin ISD Sustainability Brand Design Contest

Austin Independent School District held a design contest for sixth- through 12th-grade students to create the district’s first sustainability brand.

The contest was designed to provide students with real-world design experience. It also exposed them to potential career paths in science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics fields, while creating a unifying environmental design for the district.

Linder Elementary School Takes First Place in Student Video Contest

Linder Elementary School students brought their game with “Trash Basketball,” the winning video in the Landfill Waste Reduction Video Contest.

The Hispanic Austin Leadership Environmental Sustainability Team sponsored the contest, which was open to Austin ISD Title I elementary and middle schools.

Linder's video encourages recycling instead of sending trash to landfills. The video was selected from six student team submissions. 

Austin ISD Congratulates 2015 UpClose Graduates

On May 21, participants in this year's UpClose program were honored during a ceremony graduation ceremony at the Baker Center.

During the past year, participants learned about the district's curriculum and instruction, safety and security, campus operations, human capital, HB5 and graduation plans, budget and finance, district operations, and board governance.

The class was divided into four groups, each of which worked with a school to help improve literacy rates and increase attendance rates. The four schools were:
