Help Grow AISD's Environmental Stewardship Advisory Committee

The Austin ISD Environmental Stewardship Advisory Committee is looking for new members to help advise the district in being a recognized example of environmental education, stewardship and sustainability. 

The ESAC serves as an advisory body to the superintendent, who is responsible for administrative decisions and for providing administrative and policy recommendations to the board for approval.

MEDIA ADVISORY: Join Central Texas Schools in Celebrating GenTX College Signing Day on May 1

A Central Texas-wide pep rally, including Austin ISD seniors, will be held on Texas College Signing Day for graduating students who have committed to attending college.

The event is inspired by the National Collegiate Athletic Association's National Signing Day. It reinforces the imperative that excellence in the classroom should be given as much pomp and circumstance as excellence in athletics.

Maplewood Student to Celebrate el Día del Niño as Consul General

Tomorrow, Austin ISD student Uriel Lopez Gutierrez will fill the role of Consul General for the Day. This is made possible by a collaboration between the Consulate General of Mexico in Austin and Austin ISD to celebrate Children's Day, El Día del Niño. 

As Consul General for the Day, Lopez Gutierrez will explore different state and city agencies to learn about government agencies and the role of the Consulate of México. 

MEDIA ADVISORY: AISD Students Jazz up Central Market Sunday

This Sunday, students from nine Austin ISD middle and high school bands and ensembles will perform at the Annual AISD Jazz & Pops Concert. 

What: Audiences can further their appreciation of jazz and pop and enjoy the talents of hard-working student musicians from Anderson, Austin, Bowie, Eastside, McCallum, Lanier and LBJ high schools; and Lamar and Small middle schools.

AISD Environmental Stewardship Advisory Committee Seeks New Members

The Austin ISD Environmental Stewardship Advisory Committee is now accepting applications for new members and co-chairs.

ESAC provides guidance to AISD on environmental education, stewardship and sustainability. 

People with diverse interests and backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Co-chair nominations can be submitted by AISD students, staff, parents or community members.

Nominees are not required to be existing ESAC members. New member terms are from June 2015 to May 2017. 

Legislative Session: AISD Testifies on Endorsements for Special Education Programs

HB 3417 relates to providing endorsements for public high school students enrolled in special education programs.
