Metz Elementary School Walk Against Hate

Metz Elementary School students, parents, faculty and staff are joining together in a Walk Against Hate.

Participants will walk around the school and convene at the front of Metz for a short presentation. Walkers will wear a Metz shirt or white T-shirt to show support of diversity, peace, tolerance, love and acceptance.

The walk—part of Austin ISD's No Place for Hate Initiative—begins at 8:15 a.m. March 13 at the school, 84 Robert Martinez Jr. For more information, please contact Laura Ferrer at (512) 414-4408.

In AISD: The Pride and Promise of Austin​, our students tell the story of how they are supported, challenged and encouraged to succeed.
Seventeen student filmmakers, each with a unique perspective, capture the richness and diversity of life in our high schools.
The films highlight the dedication of the teachers, coaches, families and community members who inspire our students every day.

Youth Art Month Celebration

In celebration of Youth Art Month, more than 1,500 works of art from 113 Austin ISD schools will be on display at the district's Performing Arts Center.

An art opening will be held 1–3 p.m. on March 8 at the AISD Performing Arts Center, 1500 Barbara Jordan Blvd.

The art show runs March 8–27. Hours are 8 a.m.–8 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m.–4 p.m. on Saturdays. Special viewing hours for spring break, March 14 – 20, are 10 a.m.–3 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m.–1 p.m. on Saturday.
