AISD Trustees Approve Two New Principal Appointments
This week, Austin ISD’s Board of Trustees approved new principal appointments for McBee Elementary School and Covington Middle School, effective Feb. 24.

Austin area students, teachers and parents have envisioned a bright green future through a variety of hands-on learning projects that encompass composting systems, rainwater harvesting, organic gardens, bike academies, and wildlife habitats.
Last week, the City of Austin’s Office of Sustainability announced funding for 19 of these projects at area K-12 schools, including 15 Austin ISD schools, through the Bright Green Future Grants program.
AUSTIN, Texas—Austin ISD employees and their families are invited to attend the district’s first Employee Health Fair on Saturday, Feb. 1, at Crockett High School, 5601 Manchaca Road.
The fair is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will provide employees with the opportunity to meet with wellness vendors, enjoy activities, attend mini-health seminars and win door prizes.

Austin ISD has canceled late start for all high schools in the district.
Late start is being canceled to make up instructional time lost due to inclement weather we experienced during the last few days. This means that we will have a regular, full instructional day tomorrow, Jan. 30, and classes will begin at the regular scheduled time. All students who ride the school bus will be picked up at their normal times.

On Thursday, January 16, 2014, Austin ISD launched the Thank A Million Teachers program at Anderson High School as a national initiative led by Farmers Insurance to thank every teacher in the country. Principal Donna Houser opened the Thank A Million Teachers event and welcomed two representatives from Farmers Insurance Randy Rice, the Manager of National Education Programs and Jim Swope, Head of Texas Territory.

In addition to classes being canceled, AISD has canceled all after-school activities today, Tuesday, Jan. 28, due to weather and road conditions.

The district plans to resume regular school and district hours on Wednesday, Jan. 29, and will update families and staff if this changes.
In light of new weather developments late this morning, and based off of the latest information available to AISD by the National Weather Service (NWS), Austin’s Emergency Operations Center and the City of Austin, all schools and district offices are closed today Jan. 28, due to inclement weather.
All after-school activities are cancelled, including athletic events.
