Akins HS Students Fight Hunger in "Canstruction" Competition

Akins High School students won big in a Central Texas competition and in the process helped fight against hunger.

Akins students participated in the Capital Area Food Bank “Canstruction” competition last month, and won Best High School Entry for a structure they built out of canned food that spells out “Keep Austin Fed.”

Canstruction is using one can of food as a catalyst for change.

AUSTIN, Texas--The Austin Independent School District has invited select community members to its State of the District Movie, during which Superintendent Meria Carstarphen will highlight the district's goals, achievements and challenges with the help of staff members and students from AISD departments, campus programs and initiatives.
