AUSTIN, Texas—This fall, more than 200 seniors earned recognition for outstanding academic performance from the National Merit Scholarship Program, the National Hispanic Recognition Program and the National Achievement Scholarship Program. Eleven students earned recognition in more than one program.
Blazier Elementary School has been without power since the start of the school day and will remain without power, based on the latest information provided by the City of Austin. Should parents want to pick up their child, they are welcome to do so. All students are safe, well cared for and engaged and the principal and staff members will remain with students for the entire school day.
Based on information recently obtained from the City of Austin’s Energy Department, classes will be canceled at Palm Elementary School for the remainder of the day due to power outages.
Austin ISD will operate on its regular schedule today. Due to weather and possible flooding in some areas, there may be delays in bus pick-up and school arrival times.
AISD asks parents to please add extra time to their commutes this morning and to expect road closures and traffic delays. The district also reminds Austin drivers to stop for AISD school buses whose lights are flashing.

AISD's Office of Facilities will host a community-wide meeting about the purpose of the district's Facility Master Plan from 6:30 to 8 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Austin High School, 1715 W. Cesar Chavez St.
Team members will provide a snapshot of the district's profile and financials and review the board-approved Facility Master Plan's guiding principles.
