Power Outage at Blazier ES

Blazier Elementary School  has been without power since the start of the school day and will remain without power, based on the latest information provided by the City of Austin. Should parents want to pick up their child, they are welcome to do so. All students are safe, well cared for and engaged and the principal and staff members will remain with students for the entire school day.

Austin ISD will operate on its regular schedule today. Due to weather and possible flooding in some areas, there may be delays in bus pick-up and school arrival times.

AISD asks parents to please add extra time to their commutes this morning and to expect road closures and traffic delays. The district also reminds Austin drivers to stop for AISD school buses whose lights are flashing.

Families Invited to Special Education Forum Nov. 9 to Move All Students Forward

Austin ISD's Special Education Department invites you to an interactive forum for parents and families of students receiving special education services. 

The Saturday, Nov. 9 forum will provide families with a chance to share input and: 

  • Learn about AISD's special education goals and priorities for the 2013-14 school year. 
  • Share opinions and ideas
  • Meet and talk to the Director and others in the AISD Special Education Department

The forum runs from 9 a.m. to noon at Kealing Middle School, 1607 Pennsylvania Ave. 

Tonight: AISD Invites Community to Inform; Help Shape Long-term District Plans

AISD's Office of Facilities will host a community-wide meeting about the purpose of the district's Facility Master Plan from 6:30 to 8 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Austin High School, 1715 W. Cesar Chavez St.

Team members will provide a snapshot of the district's profile and financials and review the board-approved Facility Master Plan's guiding principles.
