AISD Statement on Pickle Elementary School Incident

AUSTIN, TX—The Austin Independent School District released the following statement regarding Thursday’s incident where a pre-kindergarten student from Pickle Elementary School left the campus playground unattended:

AISD is conducting a thorough investigation to identify how to prevent these incidents from happening again. Any time something occurs that indicates our system is not fail-safe, we will work purposefully to identify where a breakdown occurred and correct it.

Credit by Exam for Acceleration Administration Fall 2013

Credit by Examination for Acceleration for AISD middle and high school students will be administered this fall on their campuses during the CBE testing window: Oct. 14 to Nov. 15, 2013.  AISD students in grades 6-12 seeking credit for a course in which they have had no prior instruction may take Credit by Exam for Acceleration with the approval of their campus principal, registrar, or counselor. Students must score 80 or above to pass and earn credit.

The Kick Off Ceremony is the official start to the Marathon Kids 26.2 Mile Challenge. All children in the Marathon Kids program, as well as their teachers, families, friends and neighbors are encouraged to attend and celebrate as thousands of "Marathon Kids" begin their journey to a healthier, happier life with a lap around the track.

Special Education Department Parent Forum

AISD families are invited to attend an interactive forum at Kealing Middle School for parents and families of students receiving special education services.

Your input is important. Please join other families and school staff to learn about AISD's special education goals and priorities for the 2013-14 school year. Families will also have the chance to meet and talk to the Director of Special Education and others.
