AISD’s Department of Communications and Community Engagement Earns Six National School Public Relations Association Awards

Twenty two students from Anderson High School travelled to China in June for an exchange trip, led by Principal Donna Houser and foreign language teachers Ms. Long, Ms. Stringfellow and Ms. Bowen.
AUSTIN, TX—The Austin Independent School District will celebrate its art-rich community at the groundbreaking of the Performing Arts Center.
Who: District-wide marching band; Meria Carstarphen, superintendent; Pauline Dow, chief academic officer; Lawrence Fryer, chief operations officer; and Greg Goodman, fine arts director.
Lanier High School will kick-off the 2013 Homecoming Week with a parade and Fall Festival. The parade will include the Lanier band, cheerleaders, Vikettes, football team, and other school groups, as well as members of the community and feeder schools. The parade will begin Oct. 12 at 10 a.m. at the school and will end back at Lanier where a community pep rally will commence. The Viking Fall Festival will begin immediately after the pep rally and will take place on the school campus and courtyards. There will be food, fun, entertainment and plenty of activities for all ages.
The Austin Independent School District invites its students and families to attend the annual Back-to-School Bash. The event takes place Saturday, Aug. 24 from 9 a.m. to noon in Exhibit Hall 4 of the Austin Convention Center, 500 E. Cesar Chavez St. During the celebration, families can learn about the many district programs and services that help students have a great school year. Additionally, families will have access to free immunizations from Seton and more.
Free shuttle transportation will be available every 30 minutes beginning at 8 a.m. from the following locations:
Austin, TX—Austin ISD invites community members to learn more about the district and how to support public education by participating in the UpClose program. The district is accepting applications through Aug. 9.
