Austin ISD Hosts 40th Annual Marching Band Jamboree

Austin, TX—Nearly 400 band members from the Austin Independent School District's 12 high schools will unite for the 40th annual Marching Band Jamboree.

The event provides students the opportunity to perform together and showcase their talents. The annual performance also serves as the largest fundraiser for the fine arts programs in the district.

Admission is $3 and tickets may be purchased at the event or from any AISD high school band member. Children under 12 can attend free of charge.

Graham Elementary School Earns 2012 National Blue Riboon School Recognition

Austin, TX—The Austin Independent School District's Graham Elementary School has earned the prestigious recognition of being named a 2012 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. Graham is the only Central Texas school—and among only 20 schools in the state—recognized for overall academic excellence or for making progress in improving student academic achievement levels.

This is one of the district’s potential 2013-14 Annual Academic and Facility Recommendations.

Austin ISD Announces Attendance Incentive Program

Austin, TX—Today, the Austin Independent School District partnered with University of Texas to introduce the Attendance Incentive Program. The initiative is designed to promote healthy living and recognize employees for improvements in daily attendance.

Through the "Be Healthy, Here and Hooked" program, UT Athletics has agreed to offer free ticket vouchers for sports events to staff members who are selected based on employee and student attendance on their campuses.
