District Launches Public Dashboard

On Monday, July 30, the Austin Independent School District launched its Public Dashboard—a new online tool that helps families and stakeholders gauge the current state of the district.

“It is about transparency with the public,” said John Alawneh, AISD's executive director of technology. “It provides comparative, easy-to-understand information about all the aspects of the district’s performance.”

Small Green Fest

The first annual Small Green Fest celebrates all things "green" with earth-friendly activities.

The festival will include:

  • Food from local farms and businesses
  • Live music by The Gourds
  • A rock climbing wall
  • Green Classrooms
  • Showcase of CINCA Green Schools Consortium campuses
  • A tour of native plants, animals and community gardens
  • A presentation by CSMS students on raising urban chickens

Admission to Small Green Fest is $10 for a wristband and $20 for wristband, festival t-shirt and goodie bag.

Public Hearing for Single-Sex Middle Schools

About:  The Austin Independent School District Administration will hold a Public Hearing on Tuesday, July 31, beginning at 7:30 pm in the Carruth Administration Center Board Auditorium, located at 1111West Sixth Street, Room B100, Austin, Texas.

The purpose of the Public Hearing is to provide an opportunity for the public to provide comment on Single-Sex Middle Schools in District 1.  One or more board members may attend this meeting.

Austin ISD Post-Secondary Enrollment Rates Increase for the Class of 2011; Five Percentage-Point Gain in AISD Graduates Enrolling in Colleges and Universities

Austin, TX—Post-secondary enrollment rates for the Austin Independent School District's class of 2011 have increased from 62 to 67 percent, according to the National Student Clearinghouse's recently released results. In post-secondary enrollment, a student has enrolled in an educational institution after graduating from high school. This includes enrollment in two- and four-year- colleges, technical or trades schools that may be private or public institutions.
