Parents and guardians of prekindergarten students are invited to visit an Austin ISD Pre-K and register their 3- and 4-year-olds Aug. 10 at schools throughout the district.
Prekindergarten programs encourage discovery, and increase oral language and vocabulary development, as well as critical thinking skills. It is an excellent start to a child's academic career, which continues to enrich their life's journey.
Austin ISD provides a half-day Pre-K program for 3-year-olds in the 2016–17 school year at the following elementary schools: Barrington, Boone, Casey, Cunningham, Dawson, Galindo, Guerrero Thompson, Harris, Houston, Jordan, Kocurek, Metz, Oak Springs, Ortega, Overton, Padron, Palm, Pecan, Perez, Pleasant Hill, Read, Reilly, Sanchez, Sims, Springs, Widén and Zavala.
To register their students for Pre-K, families should bring:
- Current paycheck stub
- Proof of residence, such as a gas or electric bill
- Official birth certificate or equivalent
- Up-to-date immunization record
