AISD's Office of Facilities will host a community-wide meeting about the purpose of the district's Facility Master Plan. Team members will provide a snapshot of the district's profile and financials and review the board-approved Facility Master Plan's guiding principles.

What is a Facility Master Plan?

The Facility Master Plan outlines the status and future use of district facilities, guides the development of future capital improvements and supports planning for future bond elections. The FMP is a living document and will be reviewed on a two-year review cycle.

The FMP will:

• Identify long-term needs of the district that impact facilities in supporting academics
• Seek efficiencies (swing space, etc.)
• Include campus requests for facilities improvements
• Identify systemic needs
• Prioritize among competing interests, and identify opportunities for boundary changes as capital cost avoidance
• Consider boundary changes that the Boundary Advisory Committee would address using a process that engages affected communities
• Decide upon academic programming for new construction/schools
• Respond to academic programming
• Be aligned to the district's Strategic Plan and the board-approved FMP framework, which incorporates the Biennial Academic and Facilities Recommendation process
• Study demographic trends to determine the need for additional capital improvements for overcrowded schools and to identify strategies for under-enrolled schools
• Identify aging infrastructure refurbishment and modernization needs
• Specify capital improvements needed to continue progress toward greater facilities equity among campuses
• Respond to changing technology needs
• Enhance safety and security features
