Device Access for All Students

All Austin ISD students are able to obtain a district-supported device to use for school. PreK-2nd grade students can get an iPad from their campus and 3rd-12th grade students can check out a Chromebook for school use.

The resources on this page provide more information about the student devices.

The AISD Technology Everyone:1 site provides a collection of resources including the Everyone:1 Student Handbook, Frequently Asked Questions and more.

The Everyone:1 Handbook, in both English and Spanish, provides guidelines for acceptable use in Austin ISD.

Students should login to their Chromebook using their AISD email address. Should the Chromebook be lost or stolen, it is important to report the loss as soon as possible.  Students can connect to their AISD Hotspot from their iPad or Chromebook using these directions.

Students and caregivers can find additional support for Chromebooks from the Technology Design Team’s YouTube channel’s Chromebook Playlist.

The Austin ISD Technology Design Team also provides the BLEND course, Everyone:1 Chromebook Training. Students can self-enroll into the course using http://bit.ly/AISDchromebooks. The course will be added to the students’ BLEND Dashboard.

chrome browser with student and security lock

The Chrome web browser is the preferred internet browser for Austin ISD. Student chromebooks use the Chrome browser connected to their secure AISD Google account. When using a non-AISD computer, students and staff can use the Multiple Account feature to securely connect to their AISD Google account in a way that keeps that account separate from a personal Google account.  Our video, “Adding A User To The Chrome Browser”, demonstrates this process.

When using the Chrome browser in conjunction with the AISD Google account, all bookmarks, installed extensions and browser history are automatically connected to enhance the user’s ability to seamlessly continue their work regardless of the device.
