MEDIA ADVISORY Austin Ed Fund, Donors to Tour Campus Mental Health Center
Austin ISD staff and donors will visit a campus mental health center to learn more about counseling and mental health support for students. Future of school funding looking bleak following failure of school voucher bill (En español)
The most recent efforts at the Texas Capitol to create a school voucher program were defeated after lawmakers voted 84-63 to remove the creation of education savings accounts from the session’s education funding bill, HB 1. A coalition of all Democrats and 21 Republicans stood firm against the proposal that would use taxpayer dollars to pay for private schooling.
