Red Ribbon Week—Focus on Vaping
Red Ribbon Week—Oct. 28 through Nov. 1—is a national campaign to bring awareness to the risks and dangers of substance abuse. Starting Oct. 28, AISD will educate students, staff and the community about the effects of tobacco, alcohol, vaping and other drugs on our bodies and brains.
Students invited to participate in conversations to shape future of schools
100 Days of Conversations about School What if young people, educators and families designed the future of school? Students, teachers and community members are invited to host conversations between peers about the future of our schools as part of a nationwide research project.

Laura Bush to Visit Blackshear Elementary School
On Monday, Laura Bush will visit Blackshear Elementary Fine Arts Academy to announce the 2015 grants from the Laura Bush Foundation for America’s Libraries.
