AISD Revises 2013-14 School Calendar
Austin, TX—This week, the Austin Independent School District’s Board of Trustees voted to revise the 2013-14 school year calendar, moving spring break up one week to coincide with the University of Texas at Austin’s schedule.The district’s 2014 spring break is now scheduled from Monday, March 10, through Friday, March 14.There are no other changes to the calendar.
Additional Student Holiday/PD Day
As part of being a District of Innovation, vertical teams are allowed to schedule additional professional development days for staff, thus creating extra holidays for students. Becker Elementary Pachanga Dance Party
Becker Elementary School, will host their first annual Pachanga Dance Party from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10 at Becker Elementary School, 906 W. Milton St.The event will feature music by Grammy award-winning Adrian Quesada of Grupo Fantasma, dance performances by Esquina Tango and Escuelita Dance.
AISD Honors Best-Cleaned Schools
Earlier this month, Austin ISD housekeeping specialists congratulated four of the district's elementary, middle and high schools for being some of the cleanest and best-maintained facilities in the district for 2011-12.Travis High School, Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders, Baldwin Elementary School and St. Elmo Elementary School were each recognized for their squeaky clean facilities.
