Date
Saturday, June 23, 2012 - 6:00 am to 12:00 pm
Where
Barbara Jordan Elementary School, 6711 Johnny Morris Rd. Austin, TX 78724

What:

The City of Austin Watershed Protection Department, along with community leader Robert Martinez, welcome you to join the construction of a rain garden at Barbara Jordan Elementary school this Saturday at 6 a.m.

Rain gardens filter urban water runoff before they are able to enter our waterways and aquifers through a process that is both beautiful and environmentally friendly. The project is an excellent opportunity for children and community members alike to learn more about our waterways and how to reduce pollution as well as to contribute to the sense of ownership of our neighborhood schools. The project is fully funded by donations and in need of a few dedicated community members to help build the garden.

Food, water, drinks and all the necessary equipment and supplies are provided. All you need to bring is your energy and some work clothes. A rain garden will also be installed the following Saturday at Gus Garcia Middle School.
