Austin ISD Board Designates Election Day as Student Holiday
The Austin ISD Board of Trustees approved an update to the 2020-21 school year calendar, changing the Oct. 12 student holiday to Election Day, Nov. 3. To accommodate a student holiday for Election Day, the district moved the professional development day, previously scheduled for Monday, Oct. 12, to Nov. 3, federally recognized Election Day.

Neighborhood Meeting for the LASA move to Eastside
As part of the bond program, the Liberal Arts and Sciences Academy (LASA) will move from its current location at LBJ Early College High School to the current Eastside Memorial Early College High School, located at the Johnston campus. This move will allow space for LASA to grow and alleviate capacity at LBJ ECHS.

Fourteen AISD Schools Celebrate Graduation
Many Austin ISD students had to demonstrate resilience this school year, but it was perhaps best illustrated Wednesday evening when Anderson High School students sang the national anthem in the dark, with cell phone flashlights from the stands the only light in the building.
