The NAMM Foundation has designated Austin ISD as one of the Best Communities for Music Education for its outstanding commitment to music education. The National Association for Music Merchants Foundation awards the designation to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in providing music access and education to all students.

Each year, Austin ISD determines which schools (K–12) should be frozen to transfers because they have, or are expected to have, enrollments that exceed their capacities. Also, some schools are frozen to maintain stability in tracking patterns.

Sadler Means YWLA introduces new spaces and programs while honoring namesake
Families got their first view of new features and programs at the Bertha Sadler Means Young Women’s Leadership Academy’s open house May 15. The new Bertha Sadler Means Read and Reflection Center was christened via a special ceremony commemorating its namesake. The center is an open, furnished space along the main hallway near the school’s entrance.
