Special Education Family Support Meeting
What: The Austin Family Support Cooperative Meetings are held to inform and support families of children and adults with disabilities. The meetings combine workshops and group support to share information about issues, trends, therapies, strategies and resources that families may find useful. Child Find Child Find is a federal mandate under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) that requires local education agencies (LEAs), which include public school districts and charter schools, to identify, locate, and evaluate all children with disabilities residing within their jurisdictions who need special education and related services.
Spotlight: Chinese Teacher of the Year
The Texas Foreign Language Association (TFLA) has named Ms. Kelly Long, the 2011 TFLA Chinese Teacher of the Year. Ms. Long is the Chinese teacher at Anderson High School. She is being recognized for her commitment to continually providing learning opportunities for her students both in and out of the classroom, as well as for her overall contributions to the Chinese program at AISD.
