Luz Alvarez-Sims, Travis Heights Elementary fourth grade teacher, was named the 2021 Bilingual Education Teacher of the Year by the Texas Association for Bilingual Education.

2016 Vision+Voice Student Poetry Contest Seeking Submissions
Calling all poets! The third annual Vision+Voice student poetry contest is seeking your submissions.Vision+Voice is a partnership between Austin ISD and the Department of Arts and Humanities at Austin Community College.A panel of published poets will select one winning poem per grade and one for languages other than English at the elementary and secondary levels.
