Multilingual Education Advisory Committee Meeting
This meeting is virtual / La reunion es virtual Austin ISD’s Multilingual Education Advisory Committee (MEAC) works to inform and advise the school district on matters related to students who are language learners. The committee has three specific functions:
Free Spanish-language Parent Workshop
The Austin independent School District’s Hispanic Futures program presents “Los Años Maravillosos” (the Wonder years), a new Spanish-language workshop for parents of students in grades 5-8.The workshop will be presented at 6:30 p.m on Thursday, Jan. 31, at Burnet Middle School, 8401 Hathaway; and at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, at Garcia Middle School, 7414 Johnny Morris Road.
Austin ISD Celebrates National School Choice Week
Austin ISD is joining school districts throughout the country to celebrate National School Choice Week. With 130 schools, AISD has a wide variety of educational choices offered nowhere else in Central Texas, with unique and innovative programming supporting all students.

End-of-Year Review Highlights AISD Successes
AISD began the 2013–14 school year on Aug. 26, 2013, with more than 85,000 students, including 561 Grizzlies at the district’s newest facility, Janis Guerrero Thompson Elementary, which opened this year. During the first week of school, Superintendent Dr. Meria Carstarphen and other district leaders visited 14 schools to welcome students and staff.
