AUSTIN, TX—The Austin Independent School District released the following statement regarding the complaint filed with the Texas Ethics Commission by the Travis County Taxpayer’s Union:
Austin ISD to Provide Free Breakfast and Lunch for All Students this School Year
Austin ISD students will receive free meals all year regardless of household income. Why it matters: Parents can skip packing a lunch and save money this year with free breakfast and lunch for every student.

As in previous years, Austin ISD is encouraging families to apply for free or reduced-price meals.A new meal benefits application must be submitted each school year. While applications are accepted throughout the school year, to ensure benefits go uninterrupted, applications should be submitted by Oct. 2 to receive free or reduced-price meals for the 2017–18 school year.
