Based on information from the National Weather Service and Austin’s Emergency Operations Center, all schools and district offices will be closed today Jan. 24, due to inclement weather. We plan to resume regular school and district hours on Monday, Jan. 27. We will update you if this changes. Premiere of AISD State of the District Movie

AISD Opens First Modernized Campus from 2017 Bond
A packed gymnasium erupted in cheers as Principal Veronica Sharp, Superintendent Dr. Paul Cruz, Ph.D., and more cut the red ribbon to celebrate the Modernized T.A. Brown Elementary School. Elementary students who sat in rows occupying most of the gym roared in excitement to begin class in their new learning environment.
Three Names Submitted to AISD Board for Consideration in Renaming of Robert E. Lee Elementary School
Robert E. Lee Elementary School’s Campus Advisory Council has recommended three names to Austin ISD trustees for consideration for the renaming of the school. The names are, in order of preference: Russell Lee, Bettie Mann and Wheeler’s Grove.In a report submitted to the school board, the CAC stated the following:
Single-Sex Community Meeting
A second community meeting to discuss single-sex schools in Northeast Austin will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, in the cafeteria of Reagan High School, 7104 Berkman Drive. VICTORY Program Receives iPads and Androids
Students participating in the VICTORY Tutorial Program will get an added boost to their studies. The program offers free tutoring to students in grades first through 12 at designated branches of the Austin Public Library, and students are matched on a 1:1 basis with volunteers from the greater Austin community.

Correction statement following newsletter error: Human Sexuality and Responsibility (HSR) will not be taught virtually or face-to-face this spring for students in grades K-8.
