Superintendent Paul Cruz surprised four teachers during their virtual faculty meeting today to announce their selection as Austin ISD's 2020 Teachers of the Year for elementary and secondary schools. Being selected as a Teacher of the Year is one of the highest honors the district bestows on AISD educators.
Austin ISD Pride Week - Local Pride - Spirit Day
Austin ISD Pride Week Events Every year, to celebrate LGBTQIA+ students, staff and families Austin ISD hosts its own Pride Week, a time to highlight the district's commitment to creating a safe, supportive and inclusive environment. This year's weeklong celebration is April 19–24, which aligns with GLSEN’s student-led National Day of Silence on Friday, April 23.
Pass/Fail Courses
Pass/Fail Courses A high school student may choose to take a course on a pass/fail (P/F) basis, if the course is beyond state and district graduation requirements in that subject area and won't be used to satisfy the elective credit requirement for the graduation plan the student has declared. The grade will not be included in the computation of the student’s grade point average.
Reminder: Families Invited to Review Human Sexuality & Responsibility Lessons, Resources
Two days remain for Austin ISD families to review proposed new Human Sexuality & Responsibility lessons and resources, and to offer feedback. After completing the RFP (Request for Proposals) process to solicit vendors, AISD has proposed using the Get Real curriculum for grades 6–8, and staff has written the lessons for grades 3–5.
