The Austin Independent School District invites the community to submit award nominations for citizens and organizations supportive of Latino students or services that enhance the academic achievement of Latino students. Three Latino Community Awards will be presented in conjunction with the District’s Latino Academic Achievement Awards event honoring outstanding students.

Sadler Means YWLA Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with KVUE Meteorologist
KVUE meteorologist Mariel Ruiz said she is passionate about helping young women pursue careers in science, and that’s what led her to talking with students at Sadler Means Young Women’s Leadership Academy on September 24, as part of their Hispanic Heritage Month celebration.
Hour of Code 2018
In a collaborative effort to increase awareness of computer science in schools, AISD is joining the global movement to reach hundreds of millions of students and teachers to encourage them to just try “an hour of coding” during the week of Dec. 3–9 or before. Last year, more than 400 million students tried the Hour of Code.
Grandparents and Guardians Support Group
