The Austin ISD Board of Trustees approved a policy update to begin accepting general public comment Board information sessions starting in November 2020. The policy was updated at the Oct. 26 Regular Voting Meeting. General public comment was previously temporarily discontinued due to COVID-19 precautions.
Education with Heart: A Community Celebration
The Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center (ESB MACC) has partnered with Austin Independent School District (AISD) and Academia Cuauhtli to host Education with Heart: A Community Celebration. Children who will be five years old on or before September 1, 2013, are eligible to be enrolled in AISD.
Norman-Sims Elementary Renaming Committee Meeting
Austin ISD initiated the renaming process for the modernized Norman Elementary School in accordance with board policy. The district is accepting nominations via online form through Monday, May 4. The Norman-Sims Elementary Campus Advisory Council—composed of school personnel, parents, and community members from both the Norman and Sims communities—is serving as the renaming committee.
