AISD Board of Trustees Approves New Principal Appointments
The Austin ISD Board of Trustees has appointed new principal appointments for six campuses at its April 27 Regular Voting Meeting. Guerrero-Thompson, McBee, Pecan Springs and Summitt elementary schools; Gus Garcia Young Men's Leadership Academy and LBJ Early College High School will all welcome new campus leaders.

Spotlight: Chinese Teacher of the Year
The Texas Foreign Language Association (TFLA) has named Ms. Kelly Long, the 2011 TFLA Chinese Teacher of the Year. Ms. Long is the Chinese teacher at Anderson High School. She is being recognized for her commitment to continually providing learning opportunities for her students both in and out of the classroom, as well as for her overall contributions to the Chinese program at AISD.

AISD Student-Athletes Encourage Others to Stand Up for Healthy Relationships
October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and Austin ISD Athletics is doing its part to promote safe and healthy relationships. In partnership with the Travis County Sheriff's Office, Texas Advocacy Project and SAFE, student athletes will be wearing purple ribbons to encourage others to stand up against dating and domestic violence.
