Board Bulletin: Greater Austin YMCA lease approved, annual academic report released (En español)
Another week, another Austin ISD board meeting. We’re back this week with the latest actions of the Board of Trustees at its February Regular Voting Meeting. This month, the board held a public hearing on the Texas Academic Performance Reports and inked a big deal with a local partner.
Rapid Chess Tournament at Eastside Early College High School
Join the 2nd Annual Eastside Rapid Chess Tournament on Saturday, April 19, 2025, in the gym at Eastside Early College High School, 900 Thompson St., Austin, TX, 78702. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m., with multiple rounds of chess for players, and a mid-day break. Match play and the award ceremony will be completed by 5 p.m.

Blanton Elementary School Named 2019 Zero Waste Champion
Keep Austin Beautiful will recognize the work of Blanton Elementary School students, families, and teachers for being named the 2019 Generation Zero Waste Champion. The recognition and award comes with a $500 donation. Blanton Elementary School met the following criteria for the award:

AUSTIN, Texas—This week, Austin ISD’s Board of Trustees approved the appointment of Leal Anderson as the district’s new athletics director. Anderson is the men’s basketball coach at Anderson High School and was the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches’ outstanding coach of the year for 2012-13.
