Backpacks provided directly to campuses for distribution The annual Austin ISD Back to School Bash is going virtual this year, along with an increase of 13,000 additional backpacks distributed to students.

Trauma Expert Tells AISD To Be Patient In Healing Process
A world-renowned brain expert specializing in children impacted by trauma had a message for Austin ISD as it looks to address its students’ and teachers’ mental health: "If we want to go far, we have to go slow.”
Preliminary data shows sixth grade transition plan working (En Español)
More families are staying in Austin ISD under the proposed plan to transition sixth grade from Martin and Mendez middle schools, and we’ve got the numbers to prove it. Why it matters: We announced in February that we’d be transitioning sixth grade to 10 elementary schools that fed into Martin and Mendez middle schools starting next school year.
International High eying a move north to accommodate influx of immigrant students
In response to a big influx of newly arrived immigrant students, Austin ISD is talking with stakeholders about moving International High School next school year from Eastside Early College High School at the L.C. Anderson campus to co-locate with Northeast ECHS.

Austin ISD Pride Week - Connect and Celebrate
Austin ISD Pride Week Events Every year, to celebrate LGBTQIA+ students, staff and families Austin ISD hosts its own Pride Week, a time to highlight the district's commitment to creating a safe, supportive and inclusive environment. This year's weeklong celebration is April 19–24, which aligns with GLSEN’s student-led National Day of Silence on Friday, April 23.

Superintendent to principals: academics is the key focus
