AISD Director of Health Services Provides Overview on Updated COVID-19 Protocols

Alexandra Copeland, Austin ISD director of health services, will provide an overview on the district’s updated COVID-19 protocols. 

What: Director Alexandra Copeland will be available to provide information and answer questions from the media regarding AISD’s updated COVID-19 protocols.

When: 3 p.m., May 12, 2021

Where: Zoom. Login details are available with RSVP.

Due to time constraints and availability, each reporter will be allowed two questions.

Media will be called to ask their question in the order of their RSVP. 

Updated protocols: 

  • Wearing a mask will no longer be required for outdoor activities when physical distancing can be maintained, such as recess. Parents or guardians will need to provide consent for their children to go maskless in outdoor activities. Families can find consent forms at their campus.
  • End-of-year activities such as promotion ceremonies are allowed outdoors.
  • Quarantining is now required for ten days, except in cases when individuals did not wear masks consistently, or high-risk people who are not vaccinated are involved, which would require a 14-day quarantine.
  • Tours and campus visitors for educational activities and instructional purposes with prior approval are allowed if COVID-19 screening procedures (including screening and temperature checks) are involved.
