Austin ISD hosts National Association of Women in Construction Summer Camp

The Crockett P-TECH Construction Academy will be hosting a week-long summer camp in the Crockett Construction Tech Building (5601 Manchaca Rd) for middle school female students.

The goal of this summer camp is to introduce them to the field of construction and possible enrollment into the Austin Community College Associate of Applied Science Construction Management degree program offered at Crockett. The National Women in Construction organization will be facilitating the various projects that will be completed each day of the camp. Projects include concrete boxes, plumbing, soldering, electrical lamps, toilets, roofing, painting, and drywall.

The camp will also feature a trip to Rosendin Electric to tour the facility and several guest speakers to talk about their expertise in their construction and safety field. Speakers include professionals from OSHA, Rosendin Electric, JE Dunn Construction, and Texas Fifth Wall Roofing Systems.

The camp is scheduled for June 10-14, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with an offsite activity on June 12 at the same time.
