MEDIA ADVISORY AISD Hosts ‘Coco’ Community Screening in Celebration of Día de los Muertos 

The Austin ISD community is invited to a celebration of Día de los Muertos, including a screening the film, “Coco,” food and children’s activities. Families are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs and join the festivities. 

This event will bring together the Metz, Sanchez and Zavala elementary school communities and the greater East Austin neighborhood for a night of family fun. These school stakeholders have been working together on the 2017 Bond project that will invest $25 million to modernize Sanchez and several hundred thousand dollars into Metz and Zavala. 

Families can also get more information on the Metz, Sanchez, Zavala Modernization Project as part of the 2017 Bond. The AISD Board of Trustees in September selected Sanchez Elementary School to undergo a $25 million modernization as outlined in the bond. 

What: A vibrant celebration for the Austin ISD community. The program will include food, children’s arts and crafts, face-painting, a performance by the Austin High School Ballet Folklorico. The screening of “Coco” will begin at 6:45 p.m. 

When: 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1
