In the Balance: Town Hall Gives Opportunity to Weigh in on AISD's Budget

Austin ISD is in the process of assessing its fiscal forecast and formulating a preliminary budget proposal for the 2018-19 school year. The district, in collaboration with the city of Austin and the Travis County Sheriff's Office, is hosting the Building Bridges Town Hall to get feedback on a multiyear budget stabilization plan.

What: The town hall will focus on the fiscal forecast, with attendees having the opportunity to weigh in on priorities that will inform a multiyear budget stabilization plan.

When: 1:30-3 p.m. Saturday, March 3

Where: Millennium Youth Entertainment Complex, 1156 Hargrave St.

Background: The district anticipates an estimated budget shortfall of $30 million. Extensive community engagement with multiple phases will be implemented throughout the calendar year to educate the public, evaluate where there is room for cost savings and determine what trade-offs can be made as the district maintains its commitment to reinventing the urban school experience.
