Safety at Work: Austin ISD and CareerSafe Celebrate Career and Technical Education Month

CareerSafe boasts 1 million students trained online

Austin ISD and CareerSafe are celebrating Career and Technical Education month with a One Million Safer Recognition ceremony. The celebration focuses on the importance of career training, honors the work of CTE professionals and recognizes CareerSafe reaching its goal of training its first million students.
 
What: The event opens with remarks from AISD’s Superintendent Paul Cruz, followed by presentations from CTE teachers and students from Akins High School and Lanier Early College High School. CareerSafe will premiere a short documentary film and present awards to its founders, including the Office of the Governor, the U.S. Department of Labor-OSHA Regional Office, the Texas Engineering Extension Service and SkillsUSA. They will also recognize valued partners who have helped the organization reach more than one million students. 
 
Bowie High School’s culinary students are baking heart-shaped cookies for attendees and the Bowie hospitality students will greet and serve attendees. Guests will be able to browse some CTE program information tables.
 
When: 9:30-11 a.m. Feb. 22
